Kinney Law Group’s Bainbridge Island personal injury lawyers represent people who have been injured by defective products. We have successfully pursued claims involving defective industrial machinery, heavy equipment such as fork lifts and scissor lifts, and consumer goods such as wood and food.

Washington Defective Product Injury Law

The Washington Product Liability Act of 1981 and the Tort Reform Act of 1986 govern product liability cases in our state. A manufacturer has a duty to supply products that are reasonably safe. They have to be designed safely and manufactured well, and adequate warnings and instructions must accompany the product.

It is vitally important to preserve as soon as possible evidence of the product and accident. Take possession of the product if you do not own it, and take photos of the scene and gather witness statements. Make note of the model name and serial number of the product, and keep copies of any documents such as rental contracts and safety or instruction manuals.
